Childhood bipolar disorder can have a major impact on the lives of children and their families. This presentation provides information to families on controversies and challenges of diagnosing this illness in youth, and information on monitoring medication treatment. This presentation also informs parents about a National Institutes of Health (NIH) research study that provides state of the art monitoring for obesity and related side effects of antipsychotic treatment.
